RESEARCH PROJECTS - Full Description

Project TitleRisk and Protective Factors in Youth Mental Health
Project DescriptionIn this study we propose to trace and carry out detailed psychosocial interviews with a cohort of 212 young people who were interviewed as part of a landmark child psychiatry study when they were aged 12-15 years of age. They will now be aged between 20-24 years of age and will have passed through adolescence and entered young adulthood. The aims of this study are (1) To investigate mental and physical health outcomes, social and occupational functioning among this cohort of young people (2) To investigate the trajectories to good or poor outcomes in young adulthood in relation to life stresses throughout adolescence, (3) To identify risk and protective factors for mental health outcomes including alcohol and drug misuse (4) To establish a cohort for future follow-up through adulthood.
